Remote Interpreting: Opportunity or Threat

Description: Thanks to advancements in technology, OPI (over phone interpreting) and VRI (video remote interpreting) have rapidly expanded. This will be a discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of remote interpreting and a nuts-and-bolts description of how to get started, what equipment is needed and whether it is worth it.

Speaker Bio: Terri Shaw, who was a journalist at the Washington Post for over 30 years, made a major career change, first doing freelance translation then interpreting. She earned two translation certificates at Georgetown University then passed the state and federal court certification tests. She worked as a community, medical and court Spanish-English interpreter. Now, because of a physical disability she does remote interpreting from her home office.

Everyone is welcome!
